My formal education commenced in January 2004 when I enrolled in the “Personal Support Worker Program”, at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario. This was a six month certificate program which I sailed through and learned some very necessary and useful skills for my chosen career. My placement training was mainly in a long-term care facility, where I received hands-on experience which would serve me well in my chosen field of work, and just how diverse my role would be in the caring and supporting of individuals on the final miles of their earthly journey. Another placement was in the community working with P.S.W.’s in their different capacities within the V.O.N. mandate, which included the C.A.R.E. program and Adult Day Care Centre. The summer I graduated from the “Personal Support Worker Program”, I was employed privately to assist in a nursing team, caring for a person who had chosen to remain in her own home for the final months of her life. I was also employed with the V.O.N. working in the community for two years where I learned that there were many other services desperately needed by the elderly. This was when I decided to venture out on my own, thus, “Angell’s Professional Caregiving, Companionship and Personal Support Services” was created in September of 2006. Qualifications and Courses: I believe in continuous education to enhance my skills. These courses include: Stroke Initiatives
